Leave a Vacuum..
If you want something or someone new to come into your life you must create some space in your environment. Look around your home or workplace. Is there a particular place associated with what you want? If so, then do some clutter clearing there and create some empty space. If not, then do some general clutter clearing. Closets, drawers, cabinets and desks are good places to start.

How Do You Use Your Space?
Is your home office scrunched into 12 cubic feet, yet you are storing 100 cubic feet of empty boxes in your basement or garage? Which is more important, the home office where you pay your bills and organize your busy schedule, or the empty boxes you may or may not use some day? How about giving the all-important home office a little more space so you can organize it efficiently and work there comfortably, and giving the empty boxes a little less space because they are so much less important in your life (I hope!). Decide how much of your valuable space each type of item in your home and office will be allowed based on how important it is to you.

My Philosophy & Goals
With every choice and decision, even the smallest, we can make our lives either better or worse. So why not make them better?
My goal is to improve the lives of each client and student that I work with. To let them know that there is a different perspective from which to look at their lives, see them more clearly, and make the changes that will bring them closer to the lives they really want.

What Does Your "Stuff" Say About You?
And not only is it saying something about you, but it is helping you to create your future. Try this. Forget how your life is now and who you are now. Think about how you want your life to be, and the person that you want to be. Think about it in enough detail so that you can get a picture in your mind of you in that life. Then start looking at your "stuff". Does it fit into the picture? If you were that person would you have this "stuff"? The idea is to keep things that fit into your future picture, and eliminate things that don't. This way your environment will be helping you to be that person that you want to be and have that life that you want to have, instead of holding you back in the past. Do You Love It?
Your personal spaces can be created to uplift and balance you! Look at the things you own, and ask yourself if you love them, associate them with positive memories, people and experiences. If you do, then keep them. If you don't then don't keep them. I know that you may not be able to remove every item that doesn't have positive associations right away, but plan to do so when you can. And for now make sure that you have at least one item in each room that you do love. As you work through this process your environment will become more and more uplifting, shifting the balance from being something that burdens you to something that enhances your life!
The Front Door
Your front door is the key to attracting new business and personal opportunites. When you look at the front of the building your eye should go to the front door first. Make a bold statement. Paint it a bright contrasting color, or hang something bright and eye-catching on or near it. Then make sure there is nothing blocking the door on the inside or the outside, even if this is not the door you use the most. Watch out for things like overgrown bushes, planters that crowd the entrance way, clutter, outerwear, shoes and boots, doors that stick or won't open, rugs that keep the door from opening easily, and things stored behind the door. And last, open the door every day! Find a reason (newspaper, mail, cat, dog, or no reason at all) to open that door and let the energy and opportunities flow in!

About Space Clearing
"Energetically, everything that ever happens in a building goes out in ripples, like the effect of a stone being dropped in a pond, and is recorded in the walls, the floor, the ceiling, the furniture, objects, plants, animals, and people in a space. It gets imprinted in the very fabric of the structure. Repetitive patterns get deeply imprinted, as do moods and atmospheres. Any events accompanied by strong emotions or trauma are recorded more intensely."

Space Clearing with Candles
Perform this space clearing ceremony only when there are no young children or pets awake in the house. Please use all appropriate safety precautions when burning candles. Place a 9 tea light candles on a heatproof surface in three rows of three, one to represent each Gua of the Bagua Map. Make sure each candle is a safe distance from the others and any flammable objects. Light each candle while speaking aloud or to yourself an appropriate version of this intention:“My intention for the burning of this candle is to remove all non-beneficial energy from this building, and to replace it with beneficial and uplifting energy. I ask for this or something better, that is also for the greatest good. I am thankful for this space clearing.” Let the candles burn until they go out, if possible. Check them regularly during this time to insure that they are burning safely
Space Clearing with Sea Salt
Sea salt is very effective in absorbing negative energy. Use the natural salt without iodine or any other additives. Get together enough cups, bowls or saucers (plastic is good because it’s unbreakable) to place one in each corner of each room. Don’t forget basements, attics and other storage spaces. They can also be placed under desks, beds, and in closets. Put 1 to 2 tablespoons of salt in each and place them on the floor. If you have pets or young children consider placing them up higher for safety reasons. Leave the salt in place for 24 hours, then flush it down the toilet to remove the salt and negative energy from your environment. If there has been a lot of negative energy in a space repeat this procedure 3 days in a row. To maintain an energetically clean space repeat this procedure once a week or once a month, depending on how much negative energy collects in the space.

Signs, Signs, Signs
We use signs to lead customers to your business. The number or signs you need depends upon the location of your space. A store front may need only one, or possibly two, signs to lead drivers and pedestrians to the front door of the business. An office on the second floor in the back of a large building may require a sign out front that can be seen from the street, a sign at the parking lot to tell people in which direction to walk, another sign telling them to turn a corner, a sign at the doorway of the building so they will enter the right door, a sign that points the way once you get inside the building, and a sign on the door of the office. The rule is to make sure your customers are never in doubt about which way to go, because that gives them time to change their minds!

How Well Do You Sleep?
If you do not sleep through the night, or if you do not wake up feeling rested, this information is for you! Place your bed in a location where you can see the entrance to your bedroom when you are laying in the bed. Mostly this means not placing the headboard along the same wall as the doorway. We are instinctive creatures and do not feel comfortable, and achieve the deepest levels of sleep, when there is an opportunity for things to be happening behind our backs. If you can not place the bed so that you can see the door, then use a small mirror to give you a view of the door. But there is a downside to mirrors in the bedroom too. Mirrors reflect energy and move it around the room, sometimes making the room seem so active that it becomes difficult to get a good night's sleep. If you think this may be your problem, try covering the mirrors at night for a week to see if that makes a difference. If it does, either continue covering the mirrors at night, or remove all except one small one. Other "active" items can also keep people awake, such as TVs, computers, stereos, items that relate to work or finances, books with anything other than pleasant relaxing information in them, stacks of magazines, and any kind of clutter. And stay away from white sheets and white walls! White is a mental color that activates the brain, making it hard to rest and sleep. Favor warm colors in the bedroom such as red, pink, yellow, gold, beige, brown, orange and purple.

Prosperity
If you stand in the doorway of your home or workspace, facing in, the back left corner of the space is your Wealth & Prosperity area. Whatever is going on in this area is a reflection of what is going on in your life relating to Wealth & Prosperity.
Now that you've recovered from the shock let's talk about how you can improve things in that area of your space, and in that area of your life. First, eliminate clutter. Then take a close look at each item in the area and think about what it means to you. Do you love it? Is it associated with a good memory? Does it make you feel good? Then keep it. Do you dislike it? Is it associated with a bad memory? Does it make you feel bad? Then get rid of it. Now you have eliminated the negative things from this area. Next, think about what you want in your life relating to Wealth & Prosperity, and place 2 or 3 things in this area that have a meaning for you that relates to what you want. These are enhancements, and their job is to add positive energy to the area. One of the best enhancements is to write down your goals for Wealth & Prosperity. The last step in this process is to pay attention to what's happening in your life for the next few weeks so you will notice the positive changes!

The Problem with Bathrooms
The drains are the problem. In Feng Shui we work to create a good flow of positive energy in the building, and then the drains suck it out! But there are two easy ways to keep the energy flowing in other directions so you don't lose as much of it down the drain. Place a couple of plants in each bathroom, or hang a 30mm round faceted lead crystal from the ceiling. Then there is just one other problem. If you can see inside the bathroom from the front door, the kitchen or dining table, or the bed, then keep the bathroom door closed. For obvious reasons!

The Secret of Feng Shui
Your environment is a reflection of what is happening inside of you. You unconsciously create an exterior that mirrors your interior. You can use your environment to learn more about yourself - knowledge is power. And because the relationship between yourself and your environment is a symbiotic one, you can also use it as a tool. So, create an environment that embodies the life you want and the person you want to be, then let your environment pull you towards the future you desire.
The Truth About Clutter
How do you feel about this statement: "Your environment is a reflection of what is going on inside you physically, mentally and emotionally." If you look at your environment and think "Wow, this looks great!" then you can stop reading now. But if you look around and see clutter, you are seeing a reflection of your own internal clutter. And internal clutter gets in your way just as external clutter does. I don't know about you but I don't need anything else to trip over, mentally, emotionally, or physically! So, what to do? One option is to get rid of your internal clutter with techniques like meditation or counselling. Then you would find yourself geting rid of your external clutter also, because the internal and the external are always in sync. Or you could choose the Feng Shui option. Clear out the external clutter, and your internal clutter will follow. And, aren't we lucky! Spring is a great time for this kind of work.

Memorabilia
I encourage you to save at least some of the things that remind you of past good times. But I do not encourage you to save them in a box in the basement! If they are worth saving, they are worth displaying somewhere in your home or workspace where you can enjoy them every day.

Vacations
When you take a vacation (as I just have!) and get away from your normal environment, it changes you. Visiting a different location lets you experience different feelings, different ways of living and being, and different kinds of energy. That's why we feel refreshed after a trip. When you get back from your vacation you can either maintain some of the changes you have experienced, or slip back into your old patterns. If you want to maintain some of the changes then change something in your environment (this is why people purchase souvenirs!) or change an old habit. You may have to be very conscious about the change at first, but soon it will become a regular part of your new pattern, and it will begin to have it's unique effect on your life!

Uplifting Lighting
If you have a space that seems dark, has a slanted ceiling, a low ceiling, or a dark ceiling, use lighting that shines up onto the ceiling. It's more natural to have diffuse light reflecting down from the ceiling and lighting the ceiling itself "lifts" it. A torchiere is a good choice, but get one that uses a standard light bulb rather than a halogen lamp. The halogen lamps burn so hot they can cause fires. Use a light bulb that mimics daylight for the most natural effect.

Attracting a Great Relationship
Would you like to be in a wonderful new relationship, or improve an existing one? Then take a look at your bedroom. If you were already in that wonderful relationship, how would the room look? Consider these possibilities... Use warm colors and nice linens. Make sure both sides of the bed are balanced, with matching or similar nightstands and lamps, and easy access. Don't store stuff under the bed, because it creates an energy block that will prevent things from happening. Take a look at your artwork. Remove images of single people and add romantic art. Display things in pairs, and avoid ones and threes. Do you have lots of pillows, real or stuffed animals, or clutter on the bed? Make sure there is room for another person! Then write down your romantic goals and aspirations and place them out of site somewhere in the room. Remember to change or remove your written goals and aspirations as your life changes.
